Green Goddess Fire Engine AFS. Lindsey County Fire Brigade, Auxiliary Fire Service. The Hornby Green Goddess is a 1/76 scale model fire engine from the Hornby SkaleAutos range. The Green Goddess is the colloquial name for the Bedford RLHZ Self Propelled Pump, a fire engine used originally by the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS), and latterly by the British Armed Forces. These green-painted vehicles were built between 1953 and 1956 for the Auxiliary Fire Service. The design was based on a Bedford RL series British military truck. The Green Goddess carried a range of equipment from standard hose and branches, through a selection of nozzles to provide different flows and jet patterns. There are traders vans, taxis, buses, police vehicles and lorries along with railway delivery vans and public services vehicles in the SkaleAutos range, all are perfect for adding that little piece of authenticity and history to any model HO or 00 model railway layout. All of Skale Autos 00 scale range are collectible die cast vehicles and can be used on Hornby and also other 00 gauge model railway layouts such as Bachmann and Peco and quite happily any HO gauge railway layout such as Piko, Marklin, Roco, Brawa, Trix / Minitrix and Fleischmann.
